12 weeks. Thoughts about running & racing.

Actually was a bit more than 12 weeks. I restarted running on 25th of May, after a break of 6 months, that came after another break of 3 months. 2015 was a disastrous  year with 128 km in total. On 25th of May 2016 I decided to give it another try and I ran 10k in 64 min. CiucasX3, seen from the other side

I need to start by saying that registering as a volunteer for CiucasX3 (half, full and ultra.marathon race in the Ciucas Mountains) might be the smartest thing I have done lately. All the information about the race you can find on their website, facebook page and online in general. Of course involved some effort, time, work from my side, but what I have received in exchange was far greater. And I am not talking about the per-diem for the last days, the t-shirt or anything else. Several reasons of happiness

I am happy. For so many different reasons. First thing first: as you know, I mentioned it several times, I am volunteering for a trail competition. CiucasX3. In the weekend 10-11 september, I will be in one of the most remote checkpoints from Ciucas Mountains, where the runners from the ultra race (105 km) will pass. I might be moved from 1 checkpoint to the other, depending on the needs. So 2 week-ends till now I have participated in marking the path. First weekend for semi-marathon and last weekend the marathon. Which means that last Sunday and Saturday I had 50 km in the mountains marking the trail. Beyond the training plan

I am in full process of developing my training plan for the marathon. I enjoy doing this and reading about different types of training and what I should use and when and why. It is very interesting. If my training plan is good or bad , that is  another story. But there is one thing to build a training plan and you need something else to actually implement it. Why am I saying that ? Post marathon and plans !

So here I am writing again. I have even shared my blog on Facebook and again I have to admit that I was a bit scared of that. Writing this blog I start to see that I am kind of chicken … I was afraid to run, afraid to post on Facebook ! Anyway, the reaction was nice and encouraging so I will keep on writing. Good. So here we are. The marathon day. The long-awaited day had arrived. The long-awaited and feared day. I will not deny that I was nervous. I will also not deny that I was scared. Why ? The Training or Pre Marathon Period !

Lets go back in to the moment 25 of December 2013 when the great and soon proved to be painful decision was taken. It went like this : I have a Norwegian friend. Run a marathon they said …

It will be fun they said … if you are masochist, yes, but apparently that was kept a secret. I think there was some guy that wrote a book on how we are Born to run …or something similar, is not it?
