I was considering for a long time fasting. I thought that if all the main religions in the world have this concept, in one way or the other, there must be something to it. Meanwhile, new discoveries are backing up this lifestyle: “Autophagy is the process of utilizing and recycling unnecessary or dysfunctional cellular components—the so-called cellular rubbish which accumulates in cells. The term “autophagy” originates from two Greek words which summarily mean “self-eating.” Autophagy is intrinsic to living organisms, including those of human beings. Thanks to autophagy cells get rid of excess parts, while an organism gets rid of unnecessary cells. Autophagy becomes especially intensive when an organism is under stress, for example, when it fasts. In this case Read more
One of the lessons I learned in the training period for Baneasa Trail was to keep a diary of my training. I already started my training period for the next race, which I consider to be the half marathon I will do in November. I already registered for another one, in October, on 22nd. But this one is more of a test, I am not having any objective. I need to test some gels, see how my body reacts to a half, hopefully my hip will not protest too much, and have fun. I thought a long time where to keep my training diary and than it struck me: I have a blog. I can keep it here. So here Read more
I mentioned in several occasions that I am fasting every week for 36 hrs. Which means that I eat Sunday evening and next meal is Tuesday morning. Recently I received a lot of questions on why I do such thing. So recently I posted this article on my FB page, that mentions 10 advantages. Among this advantages you can find weight loss, speeding the metabolism, improving eating patterns and some more. Read the article. Here you have another article that I find interesting. I wrote at some point an article myself, and here it is.
I am fasting. I tried several diets…or schedules of fasting till I found the one that works for me. I think fasting is an interesting concept. If we look to all of the major religions existent in the world, the word fasting exists in all of them. We fast in Orthodoxy, catholics fast, muslims have Ramadan, jews fast and I guess all the religions, at least the main ones have in one form or the other fasting. While living in Mozambique I hold 1 day of Ramadan. Just for me to understand what exactly means. For somebody who is not used to fasting, add the torrid heat, and you will end up with a not so funny experience. During my Read more
In the last 2 weeks, less than 2 weeks actually I have done more sports than in the last 6 months. Apparently coming back home was good. For a long period of time I was afraid to go out and run because one of the injuries that I was suspected of was Femoral Head Avascular Necrosis. Which would have been bad. That is why I was insisting to wait till I do a MR to my hip. But dealing with the medical system in Romania is not that easy and they managed to get me out of my nerves. I am still not registered in the system, and last experience that I had with them made me go on the streets Read more
For the first time in Romania, and for the first time this year, I am going to run tomorrow. For the first time ever I am starting on Thursday to have Aikido courses. I have this in mind for a long time but never got to actually do it due to movements around the world. Thursday I am testing a place in Bucharest and through the week I will go to a second gym that has Aikido courses. I am 1 month in my, for the first time, 36 h fasting diet. Once every 2 weeks I do not eat anything for 36 h. I dine on Sunday and next meal will be Tuesday breakfast. I tried several fasting diets Read more
