CiucasX3, seen from the other side

I need to start by saying that registering as a volunteer for CiucasX3 (half, full and ultra.marathon race in the Ciucas Mountains) might be the smartest thing I have done lately. All the information about the race you can find on their website, facebook page and online in general. Of course involved some effort, time, work from my side, but what I have received in exchange was far greater. And I am not talking about the per-diem for the last days, the t-shirt or anything else. But I am speaking of the chance of meeting a lot of people with the same passions and hobbies as myself. People that love running, mountain, nature, competition, and they just do what they Read more

I might have the proof I am a masochist

I mentioned in several occasions that I am fasting every week for 36 hrs. Which means that I eat Sunday evening and next meal is Tuesday morning. Recently I received a lot of questions on why I do such thing. So recently I posted this article on my FB page, that mentions 10 advantages. Among this advantages you can find weight loss, speeding the metabolism, improving eating patterns and some more. Read the article. Here you have another article that I find interesting. I wrote at some point an article myself, and here it is. Facebook Comments

No title, just random thoughts. The weekend passed and so did my new running friends, they passed the test. I am talking about S-LAB WINGS SG from Salomon. Overall during the week-end I made 36 km and had no problems whatsoever. They feel fine, light, firm, and it is a great support for the feet when running on rough terrain. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I am covering more distance from month to month and starts to show. From 60 km in June, I am now on 5th of september with 50 km already ran or hiked on the mountains. I can feel the difference and I am happy to see that my hip and knee can take Read more

PR. As simple as that.

Put on  We are the champions and start reading. At least this is what I am listening while writing and this is how I feel now. My first 10k happened to be during a race. My first race. Novemberflåset 2013, in Stromstad, Sweden. 59 min. I was running for about 2 months, but never made it quite to 10. 7 was max. I ran it in my FiveFingers. During 2014 I had Sentrumsløpet with an official result of 53:08. In October 2014 I had Hytteplanmila, one of the nicest races I had ever run. Here I had my PR with 50:56, that lasted till Monday, 29th of August 2016,  when I managed 50:43. Today, I went out with a strong motivation, stronger Read more

Several reasons of happiness

I am happy. For so many different reasons. First thing first: as you know, I mentioned it several times, I am volunteering for a trail competition. CiucasX3. In the weekend 10-11 september, I will be in one of the most remote checkpoints from Ciucas Mountains, where the runners from the ultra race (105 km) will pass. I might be moved from 1 checkpoint to the other, depending on the needs. So 2 week-ends till now I have participated in marking the path. First weekend for semi-marathon and last weekend the marathon. Which means that last Sunday and Saturday I had 50 km in the mountains marking the trail. Great weather, great company, and great feeling. I feel, after a long period Read more

Lazy week

I had one of the laziest weeks since I started running again. I just could not get myself together and run. I went for a short run on Tuesday, and that was it. I guess after last weeks where I have increased my mileage I needed some break. But the break is over. Today I am heading again towards Cheia, the starting point for Ciucas X3, where I am volunteering. Will be some running, for me on the half-marathon path and some cleaning and marking the path for the competitors. So I am expecting to add some good km in running and trekking. And starting from the next week I am working on changing my training plan. I am entering Read more

Hello soreness my old friend!

I had prepared 2 articles. 1 about the weekend and my trip to Ciucas mountains where I went to see the half marathon path, from Ciucas X3. The other was about how do I feel at week 8 from my training program. I don´t need an article to say that I can just mention it in 1 word: DUMB. I feel dumb and sore. At CiucasX3 , where I am volunteering and by the way … if anyone that runs the ultra version, which is 105 km, in the most remote corner of your path, somewhere far far far away, there I will be to cheer you up, and kind of that is it. The place is so far away Read more

3000 m in one day

Does not sound a lot. 3000 m in one day. I am just not talking about 3000 m as a distance but as a level difference. I went again to my mountain. Piatra Craiului that is. I had to. Third time this year, and if time allows it will go another time till weather changes. Than, if I can find some more experienced mountaineers I want to experience one or several winter trips. But let me go back to my weekend. I went accompanied by a friend with not so much mountains experience. In fact, first time when my friend went to the mountains, in a serious mountaineering trip was with me some 3 weeks ago. We went up the Read more

3 weeks

3 weeks in my training plan made by Paulo from The Real Green Scene. I can see improvements. I managed to lower my 10k time from 58 to 53. I am now 3 min away from my PB from 2014. Of course it is not 100% coming from the training plan as I started training before, but it helped. I lost weight. I am now around 90 kg. Not sure how much, but trust me I know I lost weight. I am loosing my clothes on the street and I needed to punch an extra hole in my belt. I am more disciplined. Combined with the Aikido training twice a week in order for me to manage all my trainings Read more

Here is to it…

In About me section you can find the rest of the “Here is to it…” But let me save you some trouble: Here is to it / And from it / And to it again / If you don’t do it when you get to it / You will never get to it to do it again. This is one of the principles I have learned from a great friend of mine, the canadian colleague with whom I spend some 5 months in the torrid sun of Mozambique while inspecting a construction where nothing was being build. But this is another story. Because we had 8 hours per day to do almost nothing, we talked. So this was one of Read more
