In About me section you can find the rest of the “Here is to it…” But let me save you some trouble:
Here is to it / And from it / And to it again / If you don’t do it when you get to it / You will never get to it to do it again.
This is one of the principles I have learned from a great friend of mine, the canadian colleague with whom I spend some 5 months in the torrid sun of Mozambique while inspecting a construction where nothing was being build. But this is another story.
Because we had 8 hours per day to do almost nothing, we talked. So this was one of sayings that marked my staying in Africa. It is a way of saying seize the moment in a nicer way.
This weekend, because here I wanted to get, I´ve applied it. I went again to the mountains, again to my mountain, this time doing another route.
Sunday morning we had in plan to climb from Curmatura, 1470 m to Turnuri Peak, 1918 m. This path is not easy. Not the most difficult, but not easy. And the clouds were not friendly. I had to analyse very well the risks, asses if I can take care of the friend that went with me, even on a bad weather. I was having doubts, and then, this came into my mind. And I decided to go for it. And it was one of the most rewarding experiences in the last period. Climbing with an inexperienced person can be tough, but my friends did her best, and we had 7 hours of climbing and descending, through a fabulous scenery, no rain, a bit of wind, perfect temperature for climbing, not too hot, not too warm… overall a great day.
What do I want to say with this? Do I advise you to take chances? No. Do I advise you to think like me? No. I just wanted to let you know that I had a great weekend, I went to my mountain, I climbed a bit, I spent 2 days in nature and I charged my batteries.
Here is to it!
P.S. I have photos.
